Creating an App on Facebook.

Before we move to the options we need to create an app on Facebook. Make sure you are logged in to Facebook. Follow the below steps:

  1. Log in to Facebook and visit this link: developers.facebook.com/apps.
  2. Now should see the below screen. Click on "Add a New App" button as shown in the image below.

  3. Once you click on "Add a New App" button you should see a pop-up. Select 'Website'.

  4. On the next screen, click "Skip and Create App ID".

  5. Now you should see another pop-up window. Fill in the 'Display Name' and select any category for the app. After that click "Create App ID".

  6. Pass the security check. It should be something like the below image.

  7. Now you will be taken to the app dashboard. Note down the "App ID" and "App Secret".

Configure the options

Go to 'Dashboard' > 'Buttons X' > 'Settings' and click on 'Social Counters' then open the 'Facebook' tab. The following options need to be configured to display Facebook likes count.

  1. Facebook App ID
Insert the App ID you noted previously.
  2. Facebook App Secret
Insert the App Secret you noted previously.
  3. Facebook Page ID
Your Facebook page ID can be text based or number based. You can get your page ID through the page URL or through the page settings.
    1. Through Page URL
      1. Check the image below on how to extract page ID from URL. The text highlighted in the image below is a example page ID. For ex: if your page URL is 'https://www.facebook.com/btnsx' then your ID is 'btnsx'.
    2. Through Page Settings
      1. Go to your page.
      2. Click "Settings".
      3. Click "Page Info".
      4. You can see "Facebook Page ID" at the bottom of the page.
  4. Now save the settings
  5. Once you save the settings you will see a button through which you need to authenticate your app.
  6. Just click the button and you should see a pop-up window open and close automatically. If everything goes well the button should turn green as shown in below image.
  7. That's it! Just save the settings and you are good to go.
